Watch Shelley Tomberg’s performance of the Salsa with Michael Cahn.
I’m Vice President of Sales for Columbia Hospitality, a premier hospitality management and consulting company with hotels and conference centers in California, Montana, Idaho and Washington.
What is your previous dance experience?
I have been dancing in my band “Shelley & the Curves” for over 10 years, but I don’t think that equates to Seattle Dances! The toughest dance I’ve ever learned for our band was Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance which we performed with a bunch of zombies on Halloween. Just not the same!
Why are you dancing for Plymouth Housing Group?
It is an important organization that helps people in disadvantaged situations climb their way out of poverty and homelessness by providing a place to live. We are very lucky to have Plymouth doing this much needed work in our community. I am honored to help them raise funds to keep their programs moving forward.
I will hang it above the dance floor at Shelley & the Curves gigs so that everyone will remember to give generously to Plymouth Housing Group at the next Seattle Dances!
Michael grew up in Santa Fe listening to the Latin rhythms of his father’s flamenco troupe. He teaches salsa at Fresh Fitness and Dance in Seattle and has performed and competed throughout the Northwest. He and his professional partner finished in the top 5 at the 2011 Gemini Salsa championships.
