What is your day job?

I am grateful to have a job that fills me with joy and purpose while working in a fun industry…cruising! I oversee philanthropic giving programs for Holland America Line and Seabourn Cruises. It is a privilege to work for a company that is committed to making a difference in the communities where we live, work and sail.  Making investments to support organizations like Plymouth Housing is one way we can be part of the solution in ending homelessness.

What is your previous dance experience?

My formal dance experience started with some ballet classes as a child and ended with a few folk dancing classes in grade school where I learned the hula, the grapevine and the square dance. Though I love music and have always enjoyed watching shows like American Bandstand, Dancing with the Stars and Bollywood films, I consider myself a bit of a wallflower when it comes to making a move on the dance floor.

Why are you dancing for Plymouth Housing?

When I was first asked to participate in SeattleDANCES I hesitated for a few reasons. First of all, dancing is not part of my comfort zone. Also, 2017 was a challenging year going through treatment for breast cancer and unexpectedly losing my mother in October. After much thought, I said to myself, “How could I not yes to such an important cause?” This is an opportunity to make a difference for the homeless while conquering my fear of dance. It would be easy to say no, but I see this opportunity as a personal challenge with a goal to bring in much needed funds for Plymouth Housing. My beloved mother will be a source of inspiration and encouragement, as will the many lives that will be helped through all the donations raised by SeattleDANCES.

Where are you going to put your Mirror Ball Trophy when you win?

When I win the Mirror Ball Trophy, I will proudly display it in a public place for all to see. With this competition, you don’t get there alone! As they say, it takes a village and I will share this win with all those that supported me with their generous donations.
